"Climate Change Science in Haiku" Gregory Johnson, Ph. D School of Oceanography, University of Washington
In 2014 the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released a 2000 page report, a daunting read even for experts. Dr. Johnson has distilled the entire report into 19 illustrated haiku. His work of art provides powerful talking points and a visual guide to understanding this important document.
The Board of Friends of Skagit Beaches invites members, family, and friends to our annual meeting and election of new board members. After a brief business meeting and election, we will join together for lunch and socializing. Catherine Buchalski, Program Coordinator, will tell us about the state of the Coastal Volunteer Partnership followed by her colleague Dr. Jude Apple, Research DIrector, who will discuss the important and interesting research being undertaken at the Padilla Bay National Estuariane Research Reserve and how citizens can be involved.
And, yes, there is free lunch!
The Board of Directors will provide a lunch entree and beverages. If you would like, you can bring a side dish or dessert to share.
