Fidalgo Shoreline Academy, a day of learning for everyone, is an annual event sponsored by Friends of Skagit Beaches.

Come join us and choose from a variety of presentations and Trail Tales interpretive walks offered by local and regional experts.

Our mission is to protect Skagit County’s shorelines through education, research and stewardship.  Fidalgo Shoreline Academy is designed to inspire community members to care for and protect our marine environment.

Attention teachers: four and a half continuing education clock hours are available by attending the  entire day!

Ocean Frontiers Film Screening (Tue. 22 Apr, 2014 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Join us to Celebrate Earth Day at a screening of the inspiring documentary "Ocean Frontiers".

Location: Skagit Valley College

2405 E. College Way, Mt. Vernon

Sponsored by Skagit Valley College Program Board, Friends of Skagit Beaches, and Skagit County Marine Resources Committee, this documentary shares inspiring stories of how diverse groups of individuals from industry, governments, and coastal communities across the country have worked with each other to address marine issues and promote stewardship of our important ocean and shoreline resources while supporting local economies. 

The film screening will be followed by an opportunity for the audience to ask questions and discuss the film with representatives from Skagit County marine stewardship programs. 

Ocean Frontiers was provided to sponsors at no cost by Green Fire Productions and made possible by grants from The Campbell Foundation, The Lazar Foundation, National Marine Sanctuary Foundation and National Marine Protected Areas Center.

Anacortes Port Pier 2 Tour: Doing Business & Protecting Water Quality (Wed. 30 Apr, 2014 10:00 am - 11:30 am)




Tour the Port of Anacortes’ coke loading facility and learn about its state-of-the-art stormwater facilities on this tour led by staff from the Port and RE Sources for Sustainable Communities. The tour is outside and includes a short walk.
