Seafarers' Park History & Restoration (Sat. 1 Jun, 2013 10:00 am - 12:00 pm)

Meet on the sidewalk behind the Cap Sante Marina office for a walk to Seafarers' Park.  Along the way we'll discuss the changes that have taken place at the marina and at Seafarers' Park that have provided us with a lovely reinvigorated waterfront here.  Learn about the environmental cleanup work that the Port of Anacortes and WA Dept. of Ecology have completed and how it has improved the ecology of this corner of Fidalgo Bay. Plywood Mill Cleanup Walk (Sat. 1 Jun, 2013 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

Join us to learn about the cleanup of the old plywood mill site and how the Dept. of Ecology is removing contamination from the site and working with the City and private landowners to restore the health of this site after a century of mill operations. (Note: May 11 walk will cover history of mill operations but is not required to attend this walk).

Preserving and Managing the Fidalgo Bay Aquatic Reserve (Wed. 26 Jun, 2013 10:00 am - 12:00 pm)

We all love Fidalgo Bay but did you know it's one of seven specially designated "Aquatic Reserves" in Washington?  Join us for our next interpretive walk on Wednesday June 26, 10AM at the Fidalgo Bay RV Resort for a special program about ho...w and why Fidalgo Bay was chosen for this special protection status.  Our guest will be Michael Grilliot from the WA DNR Aquatic Reserves Program and Martha Bray from the Skagit Land Trust will talk about how they worked together to make this possible and the challenges in managing this special habitat area.
